Birth Control is Basic Health CareLive action camps

Thank you to IPFW’s Women’s Studies Program for co-sponsoring the Fort Wayne Live Action Camp on October 20!

Contact us if you would like to hold a Spring 2008 Live Action Camp on your campus or in your community.

A live action camp is a full day of activism focused on a single issue. It's one part seminar and one part boot camp: the morning is spent in classroom instruction on the day's issue and different advocacy and visibility methods, and in the afternoon, campers venture forth and use those methods to begin to advocate on the issue.

"The Live Action Camp really helped me realize there are ways of getting the word out about legislation and government sponsored programs that impede women's health, so I feel less like I'm feebly sitting on my duff while my rights are being taken away."  --Lydia Crumpacker

Real Sex Ed Saves LivesBreakfast, lunch, and Planned Parenthood t-shirt are provided. Live action camps are sponsored by Planned Parenthood and Planned Parenthood Advocates of Indiana at no cost to the participants.

Live camps are a terrific opportunity to learn new skills, work for something you believe in, and meet other progressive thinkers from your area and around the state. Spend time with old friends, make new ones, and use your new activism skills to advocate for positive change in your community.

High school students are welcome to participate. If you are under 18 and will be attending the Live Action Camp without a parent, you will need your parent's permission. (PDF)

"Live Action Camp was a phenomenal experience.... There's something incredibly empowering about learning by doing, and at Live Action Camp, the morning's outreach skills lead directly to results in the afternoon."  --Kelly Jordan

"I was able to meet other activists from around the state and really find extra motivation and inspiration to continue advocating for Planned Parenthood of Indiana and women's rights. It's great to be able to see what we are working for in action!"  --Jessica Morgan
